After 16 years of living in New York City, I spent the next few years traveling between Shanghai and the ethnic minority villages in rural China. Adapting to a new culture certainly had its challenges, and with it many pleasures and rewards. I am now based in Paris, and travel to Guizhou often.
People often ask me if I recorded the crazy travel adventures involving the development of my fabric and the quest for beauty. I kept the stories to myself over the years, not sure whether to portray village life as an ideal preserved world or to reveal all its flaws and struggles of moving into the modern era.
Since so little is known about rural China by the outside world, I decided to show things exactly as I experienced them and to allows readers to decide for themselves.
Thanks for following my journey and happy reading!
